# Get Team

> Get one team with its members and their team roles.

Returns one [team](/proposed/objects#organisation). [List Teams](/api-reference/directory/list-teams) returns the first six fields. This endpoint adds `hidden`, `membership_source` and `members`.

`hidden` is `true` when this team, or a team above it, is hidden from people who are not on it.

`members` lists the team's direct members, each with a team role of `admin` or `member`. A team admin can rename the team and manage its members.

Teams nest. Anything shared with a team also reaches the members of every team beneath it. `member_count` counts that whole group, and `direct_member_count` counts only `members`. Sharing never flows upwards: a share with a sub-team does not reach its parent's other members.

`membership_source` is `manual` or `slack_channel`. A `slack_channel` team mirrors a Slack channel: Wordsmith syncs its members from the channel, so you cannot add or remove them through the API.

## Authentication

Requires an API key, or an OAuth token with `directory:read`.

## Path parameters

**team\_id** `string` *required*

The team id, from [List Teams](/api-reference/directory/list-teams).

## Response

Returns `200` with the [team](/proposed/objects#organisation). `member_ids`, `member_count` and `direct_member_count` leave out suspended members, as in List Teams.

## Errors

| Status | `error_code` | When |
| - | - | - |
| 403 | `insufficient_scope` | The OAuth token does not hold `directory:read`. |
| 404 | `resource_not_found` | No team in your organisation has this id, or the caller cannot see it. A hidden team is visible only to its members and to people who can manage it. Also returned when teams are not enabled for your organisation. |
