# Delete Row

> Delete a row and its cells from a report. The file stays.

> **Preview.** This endpoint is available to organisations in the Wordsmith MCP pilot. Other organisations receive `403 mcp_not_enabled`. See the [preview overview](/preview).

Deletes one row from a report, with every cell in it. The file you added it from is not deleted.

This endpoint only works on a report built from files. When the rows follow a repository, remove the document from the repository instead.

This endpoint is REST only. No MCP tool deletes a row.

## Authentication

Requires an API key, or an OAuth token with `reports:write`. The caller also needs edit access to the report.

## Path parameters

**report\_id** `string` *required*

The report id.

**row\_id** `string` *required*

The row id, not the `file_id`.

## Response

Returns `204` with no body.

## Errors

| Status | `error_code` | When |
| - | - | - |
| 403 | `forbidden` | The caller can read the report but cannot edit it. |
| 404 | `resource_not_found` | No report or row with these ids, or the caller cannot read the report. |
| 409 | `rows_follow_repository` | The report's rows follow a repository. Remove the document from the repository instead. |
