# Get Report

> Read a report and its columns.

> **Preview.** This endpoint is available to organisations in the Wordsmith MCP pilot. Other organisations receive `403 mcp_not_enabled`. See the [preview overview](/preview).

Returns one [report](/proposed/objects#report) with its `columns`. `status` is `running` while a run is computing cells, and `idle` otherwise.

The response does not include rows or cells, because a large grid holds thousands of them. Page through them with [List Rows](/api-reference/reports/list-rows) and [List Cells](/api-reference/reports/list-cells).

A column made in the app with a type the API does not create, such as a Smart Cell, a URL or a JSON column, is listed with `type` `text`.

## Authentication

Requires an API key, or an OAuth token with `reports:read`.

## Path parameters

**report\_id** `string` *required*

The report id.

## Response

Returns `200` with the [report](/proposed/objects#report), plus `columns`: every [column](/proposed/objects#report) in display order.

## Errors
