# Delete Skill

> Delete a skill so the Wordsmith agent no longer uses it.

Deletes a skill. The Wordsmith agent stops using it, and it disappears from [List Skills](https://wordsmithai.mintlify.site/api-reference/skills/list-skills.md). Its bundled files are not deleted.

You need permission to delete the skill, as in the Wordsmith app. Public and community skills cannot be deleted. Deletes are REST-only: no MCP tool deletes a skill.

## Authentication

Requires an API key, or an OAuth token with `skills:write`.

## Path parameters

**skill\_id** `string` *required*

The skill to delete.

## Response

Returns `204 No Content` with no body.

## Errors

| Status | `error_code` | When |
| - | - | - |
| 403 | `forbidden` | The caller can see the skill but not delete it, or it is a public or community skill. |
| 404 | `resource_not_found` | No skill with this id, or not one the caller can see. |
