API features available to organisations in the Wordsmith pilot: the MCP server, OAuth sign-in, files, reviews, document actions, drafting, research, reports, repositories, sharing and usage.

Preview. These features are available to organisations in the Wordsmith MCP and files pilot. Elsewhere they return 403 mcp_not_enabled. They are not listed in the navigation while the pilot runs, so keep this link to find them again.

What is in the preview

MCP server

Use Wordsmith from ChatGPT, Claude, Claude Code and other MCP hosts.

OAuth sign-in

Let users connect an app to Wordsmith without sharing an API key.

Files API

Add, read and download files, and attach them by file_id.

Reviews and documents

Review contracts, generate redlines, and compare, translate, redact, convert or merge files.

Reports and repositories

Keep documents in repositories, search them, and answer the same questions across all of them.

Each area has an MCP tool that calls the same code.

Attaching a file by file_id

In the preview, an attachment on Create Question can name a file you already have, instead of uploading it again. Attach Files already takes file_ids for tasks.

With an OAuth token, a file_id attachment needs the files:read scope as well as files:write.
